The US broadcaster David Letterman has lost his mother Dorothy Mengering, who died at the age of 95. She was a vibrant woman, who made consistent appearances on the son’s late night TV shows.
Her dead has left many sad, while they sympathize with the family, including Stephen Colbert who has written a touchy tribute the deceased.
Before Dorothy death, she showed up as a guest in telephone segments of the son’s show ‘Dave’s Mom, before February 1986 when she made her first on-screen appearance.
Dorothy covered three Winter Olympics for the show in 1994, 1998, and 2002 where she also interviewed Hillary Clinton among others, with appearances before Mother’s Day and Thanksgiving episodes. And her cookbook “Home Cookin’ with Dave’s mom was published in 1996.
The son’s successor and current late night show Stephen Colbert took to Twitter to pay his tribute to Letterman’s late mom;
May her soul rest in peace…
