Latest As Denmark Intends To Build A Wind-Generator Artificial Island In The North Sea: Denmark is a Scandinavian country comprising the Jutland Peninsula and numerous islands. It’s linked to nearby Sweden via the Öresund bridge.
Copenhagen, its capital, is home to royal palaces and colorful Nyhavn harbor, plus the Tivoli amusement park and the iconic “Little Mermaid” statue. Odense is writer Hans Christian Andersen’s hometown, with a medieval core of cobbled streets and half-timbered houses
A project to build a giant island providing enough energy for three million households has been given the green light by Denmark’s politicians.
Under Denmark’s Climate Act, the country has committed to an ambitious 70% reduction in 1990 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, and to becoming CO2 neutral by 2050.
The project costs around $34 billion and should be fully functional by 2033. Officials add that, eventually, it’s hoped that the island will house a “green fuel” plant which can then be sent to Denmark.
And Denmark, which is one of the European Union’s largest oil producers, is expecting to use this island to help renew its own energy industry.
Not only is Denmark at a favorable point in the North Sea, and the water levels around its coastline are shallow enough to make it easier and cheaper to build off-shore turbines.
And lawmakers in the country have removed a number of legal barriers that would slow down the construction of turbines.
