New iOS Emoji – Apple Reveals New Emoji Coming to iOS (iPhone, iPad, Mac) This Year: The latest set of emoji characters, Emoji 14.0, was approved on Sept. 14, 2021, less than a week before iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 hit iPhones.

And iPads. There wasn’t any time to get any new emoji into iOS 15.0, but they are coming soon in a 15. x update later this year.

These emoji are from the latest selection approved by the Unicorn Consortium in January.

In the later part of the year, individuals who make use of the iOS operating systems can send different unique emoji.

These emoji include; ninjas wearing face masks, bubble tea emoji, lungs emoji, realistic looking heart, transgender symbol, pinched hand emoji being referred to as “Italian Hand,” new gender inclusive veil and tuxedo options, the smiling face with a single tear, and more.

All will be rolled out later this year to iOS users.

Picture-based communication on iOS just got even better as Apple reveals 13 new emoji coming to mobile. Apple is probably going to make this new emoji implementation sometime this fall on iOS 14.

Also, Apple plans to release new colored face mask options for Memojis.

Couples

Also included in this release: couples with a mix of skin tones. This is part of the Emoji 13.1 specification released in late 2020.

A whopping 200 of the 217 new emojis in this release are there to permit this more inclusive set of couples to be chosen from the emoji keyboard.

Gender Consistency

Most emojis these days provide an option for a gender inclusive default, or a specific gender can be chosen to show an emoji as a woman or man.

While most emojis used this system, it was only in the most recent emoji list that gender options for the Person: Beard was approved.

With iOS 14.5 being the first OS from Apple to include support for Emoji 13.1, this means there are now options to specify a woman with a beard, or a man with a beard.
