The State Employees Credit Union, SECU, is known to be a state hired credit union. Founded on the philosophy of “People Helping People,” SECU is dedicated to making a difference in the financial lives of all members through the provision of a wide range of services which include salary advance loans, mortgage options, youth accounts including FAT CAT and Zard, and Summer Cash and Vacation Cash accounts.

With the introduction of options like online BillPay, Financial Calculators and Assessments and SECU’s car buying service available through the secure Member Access section of the website, SECU keeps increasing the number of automated services it offers.

SECU operates out of its headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina and is regulated under the authority of the Credit Union Division of the NC Department of Commerce. Its member deposits are insured by National (NCUA) of the U.S. federal government. SECU is the second biggest natural member credit union in the United States, both in asset size and also in membership.

Member Access

Provided they have internet access, members of SECU can access their accounts via Member Access.

SECU Member Benefits

A. Product Discounts

Members can avail themselves of available discounts by joining the credit union program known as Invest in America.

Invest in America is a natural rewards program that offers discounts on well known products/services such as GMC cars, Dell computers and Sprint Mobile services.

B. College Scholarships

Scholarship schemes based on academic performance or community service are made available. The scholarship schemes vary though.

C. Free Online Financial Literacy Programs

A lot of credit unions provide education courses, many of which are online. The courses are usually video oriented and aimed at teens as well as young adults, spanning over 16 topics on financial-literacy.

D. Savings Rewards Programs

Credit unions provide savings programs with prizes. Saving to Win, a lottery oriented program is one of such programs which gives savers an opportunity to win cash prizes.

Currently, this program is available in the following 4 states; Washington, Michigan, North Carolina and Nebraska.

E. Bonus Dividends

Credit unions give dividends to members yearly.

What to do if You Forget Your Password

If there ever come a situation where you’ve forgotten your password, do not panic. Follow the steps below to get it sorted out;

  • Go to the “Lost Password page”.
  • Enter your WordPress.com username or email in the spaces provided.
  • Click “Get A New Password”.
  • Depending on the option you choose, an email will be sent to you via your primary email address or an SMS to your phone number. The email or SMS will contain information to help you regain access to your account.
