Before looking at the connection, it is important if we take a few minutes to understand what WiFi is about. First, the full meaning of this acronym Wi-Fi is the wireless technology used to connect computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices to the internet.
Wi-Fi is the radio signal sent from a wireless router to a nearby device, which translates the signal into data you can see and use.
Disconnect all the cables from your router, then unplug it. Removing the cables can help clear out any static in the lines, which can impact your connection.
Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Once your router is on again, wait at least two minutes before trying to connect to Wi-Fi.
Wi-Fi and the internet are two separate things that work together. Think of the internet as a language and Wi-Fi as a method of sending and translating that language.
Having a Wi-Fi signal doesn’t always mean you have access to the internet. You need a modem, Wi-Fi router and an internet provider to make that happen.
If you have an Android device, you can enable tethering by heading to Settings > Network and Internet > Hotspot and Tethering > Wi-Fi Hotspot, then slide the toggle next to Wi-Fi Hotspot into the On position.
iOS users need to go to Settings > Personal Hotspot and slide the toggle.
Ability to access other devices connected to your network, for example, multiple computers can use one printer without a directly wired connection.
Access to the Internet on devices like smartphones and tablets to download books, music, movies and apps, or surf the web.
Why do people use WiFi? Cellular data uses the satellite communication methods used to connect cell phone calls.
These transmissions can be converted to internet data signals and back, which is what allows you to do things like check your email on a smart phone without being connected to the internet via WiFi.
A common reason why your phone has a WiFi connection but no Internet access is that there is a technical issue with your router.
If your router is experiencing any kind of bugs or problems, that affects how your devices including your Android devices connect to the Internet.

“Wi-Fi networks are only as secure as the least secure device attached to them,” said IEEE member, Kayne McGladrey.
Smart devices, like webcams, doorbells, switches, plugs, and other IoT devices are notoriously insecure. “Insecure IoT devices can be tricked into divulging a Wi-Fi password,” said McGladrey.

The average mid-range router found at retailers such as Amazon or Best Buy costs anywhere from $80 to $120.
You’d pay for a new router every year, plus have an extra $20-$40 with the money saved by purchasing your own router.
