US Marine Tests Innovative Disposable Delivery Drone.
US Marine Tests Innovative Disposable Delivery Drone – The US Marine is trying out a new development on a drone capable of carrying and delivering packages including foods to its troops in the field.
The Tactical Air Delivery gliders, as they’re calling them, would be able to deliver up to 700 pounds of food and other supplies, according to IEEE Spectrum. They can then be left to rot where they landed.
While it is designed to do this, the new innovation could also be used in some other kinds of application, which are not military.
For instance, the drone could be used in search and rescue plus fire fighting.
The drone is meant to use basic GPS to float to wherever they are needed. Then Marines could at that point take apart the drone to have that within.

While solving these problem, this drone is relatively cheap, just around $1,500 – $3,000. Second, disposable drones mean the soldiers that find them don’t have to worry about the drone getting back to base.

The Marines intend to start the gliders in 2018 and the hope is that the drones will one day be used for more than resupplying soldiers. They could also resupply firefighters or send food to people caught in remote areas.
