Fake JAMB Forms: Panic In Imo As Fraudsters Dupe ‘Several’ Families

Panic in Imo State as a number of families have reportedly been duped of huge sum of money by suspected fraudsters, with the sale of fake  2017 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (fake JAMB forms), registration forms circulating.

This revelation was brought to light on Wednesday by the Chairman, Computer Based Test Centre Proprietors Association of Nigeria (CPAN), Chidiebere Egboh, in Owerri, the state capital.

Egboh revealed that: “Fraudsters who run unauthorized business outfits in the state are defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of huge sums of money.

“We have observed with utter dismay, the illegal activities of unaccredited business houses defrauding unsuspecting members of the public of huge sum of money by selling fake 2017 JAMB registration forms, providing special centres for purposes of cheating in the examination and purporting to have registered them for the 2018 JAMB University and Tertiary Education Examinations.”

According to him, the fraudsters, who are playing a fast one on their victims, have extorted over N15,000 each from thousands of prospective JAMB candidates.

He further lamented that the fraudsters have offered to allocate candidates to their special centres.

It would be recalled, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had stated that the board was yet to commence the sale of forms due to certain reasons, warning parents and candidates to be wary of fraudsters who might try to hoodwink them.

He added: “We will meet with heads of other examination bodies, NECO, WAEC and NABTEB, next week to determine the appropriate time frame to conduct the exams so that our period don’t clash with theirs.”

“Similarly, we don’t want to conduct our exam at a time when students are not ready because that might be disastrous. JAMB don’t conduct achievement examination but a ranking examination, and that was why we kicked against the extension of its validity.
