Birth and Early life

Burna boy was born on the 2nd of July 1991 to his parents Bosede and Samuel Ogulu. He was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State but hails from Ahoada, a town in Rivers State. He was christened, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu by his parents and happens to be the eldest and only male child out of three children.

Burna boy attended Montessori International Primary School Port Harcourt, Rivers State from where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 2002. He proceeded to Corona Secondary School Lagos and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate in 2008. While in Secondary School, Burna boy spearheaded the formation of a high school band called “Def Code”.

The band performed at the national stadium, to commemorate the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Corona Secondary School. From Corona Secondary School, Burna boy gained admission to study Media Technology at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom. He graduated between 2009 and 2010 and eventually continued to the Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom to study Media communications and culture between 2008 to 2010.

After his education, the music legend went ahead to do an internship at Rhythm 93.7 FM in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He eventually signed a deal with Aristocrats Records and this officially began his journey into the Nigerian music industry.
