Steps on Registering an NGO in Nigeria
- Name Availability Search
Carryout Name availability search with the Corporate Affairs Commission. NGO names often end with Association, Foundation, Initiative, Network or Organization.
- Publications in Newspapers
Publish the approved name in two (2) national newspapers and one (1) local paper is the second step.
- Submission of IT Form 1:
Submit completed form to the Corporate Affairs Commission with three (3) copies of:
- Letter of Application.
- Corporate Affairs Commission Application “IT Form 1”, signed by chairman and secretary.
- Company’s Constitution.
- Minutes of Meeting (MoM) where trustees were appointed, signed by the chairman and secretary.
- MoM where special rules were adopted, signed by the chairman and the secretary.
- Trustee declaration forms; the forms must be declared by each trustee before a High Court. You may choose a Federal High Court or a State High Court.
- Pay 20,000 Naira fee to the Corporate Affairs Commission. The fee is payable at a bank, or online.
